Position Summary:
Responsible for working within a team to perform required system inspections on utility PV power
plants. Perform mechanical/electrical inspections and commissioning testing. Document all inspections,
observations, and test results. Communicate inspections, observations, and test results with
Commissioning CM/GF. Document and assist with PV system troubleshooting and corrective actions.
Essential Job Functions:
• Assist with the inspection and testing of PV plants to specifications and contract documents
• Complete all commissioning documentation during inspection
• Document all outstanding issues and deliver all documentation in a neat and orderly manner for
review by the General Foreman and Commissioning Manager
• Perform LOTO duties as outlined by the company and site-specific policies
• Perform field test data entry as needed
• Perform final visual and mechanical inspections on equipment before energization date
• Support third party testing and inspections. (Transformers, MV audits, MV cable tests, etc.)
• Ensure proper use of PPE and conformity to safety procedures by all employees
• Keep testing equipment clean and orderly at all times. Ensure calibration is up to date.
• Report any missing or broken tools to CM/GF and inform CM/GF when consumable supplies are
low
• Care for and maintain all issued PPE in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications
• Work together and take lead of other Techs ensuring quality of work and adherence to all safety
procedures
• Other duties as assigned
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Classroom education or training in photovoltaic systems preferred
• Photovoltaic installation experience
• Three years of electrical experience in the Industrial sector or in fields related to
Renewables or two years of experience as a MasTec Commissioning Tech I
• OSHA 10-hour, First Aid/CPR, NFPA 70E certifications preferred
• Ability to take lead in commissioning tasks with minimal oversight
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
• Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be
affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working
toward the MasTec’s Zero Injury principles
• Ability to read and understand electrical single line and three-line diagrams
• Ability to use a multi-meter/Commissioning test equipment (i.e. Meters, insulation resistance
tooling, DET 2/3, Solmetric/Seaward testing units)
• Understand electrical theory and base troubleshooting methods
• Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
• Be able to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards

temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.
